In the Harry Potter universe, Ron Weasley goes on to have two children with Hermione, Rose and Hugo Granger-Weasley. In real life, however, the actor who portrayed the iconic Weasley, Rupert Grint, shares one child with his longtime girlfriend, Georgia Groome.
As the couple have always been notoriously private about their relationship, it comes as no surprise that they publicly shared their daughter’s name over six months after her birth; not to mention, it took Grint until 2020 to make an Instagram account to share the name in the first place. “Hey Instagram….only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint,” the actor, who stars in Netflix’s “Cabinet of Curiosities,” captioned his Nov. 10, 2020, announcement.
Because of how little Grint and Groome share publicly about their relationship and family, very little is known about their little one. Here’s everything we do know thus far.
Wednesday G. Grint
Grint and Groom’s first and only child, a daughter named Wednesday, was born in early May 2020. The news that Groom was expecting broke late in her pregnancy on April 10, and the birth news followed less than a month later. And while on the subject of dates, Wednesday’s birth comes less than two years after Grint told The Guardian: “I’d like to settle down and have kids soon. If I had a son, would I call him Ron? It’s quite a good name, but probably not. And Grint’s a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with.” They nailed it with Wednesday, though, no?
We don’t know much about the little one yet other than her first name and middle initial. (Maybe her middle name is Georgia, after her mama? Or possibly it’s Granger, as a nod to Grint’s fictional wife? Only time will — maybe! — tell).
The only other thing we know about Wednesday is she likes visiting her dad on set when he’s filming. Since announcing the birth of little Wednesday, Grint has shared just one additional photo of her on Instagram. In January 2022, he posted this adorable snap of the tot chilling in his chair on the set of his Apple+ series, “Servant.”
We’re looking forward to hopefully getting a few more details about Wednesday and small glimpses of her as she grows.
