Review: Emma Bunton brings in Christmas at Theatre Royal Drury Lane

Emma Bunton brought Christmas cheer to Theatre Royal Drury Lane on 19 December, leaving the packed-out theatre in a decidedly Christmas mood.

In a show packed full of Christmas hits Emma certainly brought the Christmas spirit in a performance that oozed warmth, love and festive cheer.

From all the well-known Christmas songs that had everyone in the theatre singing along, to the medley of her much-loved solo hits and of course the Spice Girl classics which had everyone on their feet.

The Christmas extravaganza was full of lovely surprises. Emma’s family joined her on stage to sing a couple of songs. Tate deserves an extra special mention for flawless vocals and stage presence, definitely takes after Mum and Dad. Jade joined Emma to sing the Spice Girls hit 2 Become One.

Other surprises included a duet with Kaiser Chiefs Ricky Wilson with a cover of the iconic Slade track Merry Christmas and to the crowd’s delight Sporty Spice Melanie C joining Emma for a roof-raising version of the Spice Girl’s classic Stop, complete with the legendary dance routine.

The entire show was a masterclass on Christmas, the importance of family, friends and coming together, connecting and being kind to one another.
